Benefit for Chad Campbell ft. The Cannonball Jars, Benjamin Hatch, Sherri Lynn and The Mountain Friends Band, Ouroboros Boys, David Earl and The Plowshares

On Friday, September 2, with his kids off to school, Chad was well into his 30-40 mile ride in the mountains of Asheville, N.C., before heading to work.

Shortly before 7 a.m. he was hit from behind by a truck. He and his bike were thrown over the guardrail and off the roadway. Police and rescue personnel transported Chad to Mission Hospital with a list of massive injuries.

As a result of his accident, Chad experienced multiple surgeries. His pelvis was severely damaged and had to be pieced together with plates and screws. Chad has a rod in his right arm from his elbow to his shoulder and three vertebrae are fused together in his lower back. Requiring a change every couple days, Chad still wears a wound VAC (Vacuum Assisted Closure) for the deep wound on his lower back. As he works hard through his rehabilitation at Care Partners, Chad continues to be grateful for so many things. He is overwhelmed by all of the love and support he is receiving from his friends and community.

On behalf of Chad's friends and cycling community, we are hosting an event to raise funds to help Chad get back on his feet - literally. Chad aims high with his goal to get back on a bicycle but he still has a long road ahead. It is yet to be determined when he will be able to return to work.

This event at Salvage Station will include 2 group rides, a silent auction, raffles, and live music. There will be varied drawing times for the raffle and silent auction items and you must be present to win.

There are two group rides, a 55 mile - B paced ride beginning at 9:00 am and a 40 mile - B paced ride beginning at 12:30 pm. Here are the routes:

David Earl and the Plowshares are an original Classic Rock or Alt Country or Americana Band.  Depends which day you see them.  Currently a four piece electric outfit that falls somewhere between Creedence Clearwater Revival and Wilco. Closer to Creedence probably.  They were born in the electrified 1900s and should have stayed there.  Nonetheless, here they/we are. PHOTO: Bob Forte
