MachineFunk "Tribute to Widespread Panic" is the nation's premier Widespread Panic Tribute band. Formed in South Carolina in 2006, the band has toured the southeast for the last eleven years. Night after night their set lists are never the same, with having over 120 songs in their repertoire you will not see the same show twice. They also include songs from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Talking Heads and many others. Machine Funk has shared the stage with musicians from The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, North Mississippi Allstars, and Jojo Hermann of Widespread Panic. Each show is a musical journey that can't be explained, only experienced!
The word murmuration refers to a flock of starlings, which produces mesmerizing abstract shapes as the mass of birds twists and turns, each one reacting to the other’s subtle movements without ever colliding. As a band, Murmuration employs a similar method for improvisation in their music. Often, the overall sound is greater than the sum of its parts, as each member simultaneously follows the music of the moment while plotting the course for the next turn. With a mix of Rock, Funk, Blues and Psychedelia, the setlist is always evolving and any song can be a canvas for creating moments that transcend beyond the original notion of the composition. Similar to the magical Starling, the group is never led by a single individual, rather the musical movement is governed collectively by all the members at once.
